Dulat Isabekov. Gaukhartas

Dulat Isabekov’s novella Gaukhartas shares its title with a well-known Kazakh folk song. Yet the similarity goes beyond the name alone the work echoes the song in its mood, spirit, and emotional depth. The story portrays situations that arise when people with contrasting personalities live under the same roof. Their emotions, both expressed and unspoken, gradually unfold before the reader, revealing themselves little by little until the full picture emerges only at the end. Intended for both teenagers and adult readers, the book offers a subtle and moving exploration of human relationships and feelings.
