Almaty Libraries Held Events Dedicated to Capital City Day

On July 6, Kazakhstan celebrates Capital City Day, a national holiday. To mark this significant occasion, Almaty’s public libraries organized a series of cultural and educational events aimed at promoting the history, culture, architecture, and national significance of the country’s capital.
As part of the праздничной program, libraries hosted book exhibitions, literary and musical evenings, expressive reading competitions, informational sessions, drawing contests, interactive festivals, quizzes, and educational meetings.
On July 1, the Mukhtar Auezov Library presented the book exhibition “Еліміздің бақ Ордасы – Астана”. On July 6, the library also held the literary and musical revue “Астана – ән шуағым, жыр тұмарым”.
On July 2, Children’s Library No. 24 hosted the expressive reading competition “Еңселі Елордам!”, where participants recited poems dedicated to Astana.
On July 3, the Library of Kazakhstani Writers organized the festive morning program “Туған күніңмен, Астанам!”. Young participants enjoyed an educational program highlighting the history and achievements of the capital while also developing their creative abilities.
The Alatau Creative Hub held the festive event “Астана – ел қуаты, елдік рухтың белгісі!”, featuring an exhibition of artworks created by members of its art club and dedicated to Astana.
Library No. 6 organized the book exhibition “Ел жүрегі – Елорда” alongside the drawing competition “Жұлдызың жансын, Астана!”.
The Zhambyl City Youth Library, in cooperation with Institution No. 11 of the Department of the Penal Enforcement System of Almaty, held an informational session titled “Асқақтай бер, Астанам!”.
On July 6, the A.P. Chekhov Central City Library organized the book exhibition “Елорда – елімнің жүрегі” in Mukagali Makatayev Park, along with a public survey entitled “Астанам – асқақ арманым”.
In addition, several libraries presented thematic book exhibitions: Library No. 14 – «Астананың рухани келбеті», Children’s Library No. 1 – «Ел жүрегі – Астана», the Family Reading Library – «Жасай бер, жайна, Астанам!», Library No. 44 – «Асқақта, айбынды елдің Астанасы», Children’s Library No. 18 – «Еліміздің бақ ордасы – Астана», and Library No. 26 – «Елімнің жүрегі сен – Астана». These exhibitions introduced readers to publications on the history of the capital, the stages of its development, its architecture and culture, and Astana’s role in the progress of independent Kazakhstan.
The Capital City Day events helped strengthen young people’s interest in the history of Kazakhstan, national values, and patriotism, while broadening readers’ historical knowledge and cultural awareness.
