More Than 3,000 First-Graders in Almaty Received Books as Gifts

On September 1, Knowledge Day, the Centralized Library System under the Almaty City Department of Culture held its traditional «Бірінші сынып оқушыларына – кітапханадан сыйлық»

This year, more than 3,000 first-graders from 22 schools across eight districts of Almaty received special gift sets featuring children’s books.

The main goal of the campaign is to make children’s first day at school truly festive, introduce them to the world of libraries, and foster a love of reading from an early age.

«When a child’s first steps into school life begin with a book, it helps develop an interest in knowledge, reading, and discovery. We want every child’s friendship with books to begin at an early age,» said Мақпал Мұхаммедова, Head of the Library of Kazakhstani Writers, emphasizing the importance of the campaign.

The campaign was made possible with the strong support of its partners: Atamura, Steppe World, Ol-Zhas, Kazformoms, Astana-Kitap, Mektep, Ana Tili, Arman-PV, Alqa Publishing, bookstores KitapAl and Ziyat, the Writers’ Union of Kazakhstan, as well as authors Баян Болатханова, Ділдар Мамырбаева, Сәуле Досжан, Бейбіт Сарыбай, Ильяс Юсуф, Қанат Қайым, Ермахан Шайхы, and renowned entrepreneur Шатырхан Керімбек.
