Another Book Distribution Point Opens at a Shopping Centre in Almaty

Today, as part of the celebrations marking Almaty City Day, a new book distribution point of the city’s libraries was opened at the «Асыл» shopping centre in the Almaly district of Almaty.
The project is being implemented as part of the «Оқитын ұлт» national initiative, on the instruction of Almaty Mayor Дархан Сатыбалды. The main goal of the project is to improve residents’ access to books, foster interest in reading, and contribute to the development of a reading culture.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Akim of the Almaly District Олжас Құрманбекұлы, Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Сәуле Досжан, member of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan, poet and writer Бейбіт Сарыбай, journalist and writer Баян Болатханова, representatives of the cultural sector, and city residents.
During the event, representatives of the intelligentsia delivered speeches and highlighted the importance of reading in society, as well as the relevance of making literature as accessible as possible to residents.
In her congratulatory speech, Honoured Worker of Kazakhstan Сәуле Досжан emphasised the importance of opening a book distribution point at a shopping centre:“Today, an important and accessible cultural space is being opened for residents of the Almaly district. Bringing libraries closer to shopping centres and other places frequented by large numbers of people is a good initiative aimed at making reading part of everyday life. I believe that the expansion of such projects will increase residents’ interest in books and contribute to the development of a reading culture,” said Сәуле Досжан.
Previously, the first book distribution point of this kind was opened at the «Адем» shopping centre. Due to the strong interest and support shown from the very first days by both entrepreneurs and visitors of the shopping centre towards the initiative being implemented within the framework of the «Оқитын ұлт» idea, work is now underway to open similar book distribution points at shopping centres in other districts of the city, further increasing residents’ access to books.
The opening of the book distribution point has also been warmly welcomed by local entrepreneurs. “We are very pleased that a book distribution point has opened at our workplace. I will be able to borrow motivational and professional books here and explore literature that can help us develop our business. I believe this is a great opportunity for us. I am sincerely grateful to the Almaty Akimat and the city’s libraries for launching such a meaningful initiative!” said entrepreneur Азамат Инкаров.
The new book distribution point currently has a collection of more than 2,000 books. Readers can choose from a wide range of titles, including fiction, children’s literature, and educational and informative publications.
The new book distribution point is open Wednesday through Monday from 10:00 to 19:00. Tuesday is a day off.
Residents of the Almaly district and visitors to the «Асыл» shopping centre are invited to visit the new book distribution point, explore its collection, and choose the books they need.
