A new modern library was opened in Almaty

Today in Almaty, with the support of the Akimat of Almaty city and the Department of Culture, a ceremonial opening of a new library took place.
The new facility became the 31st city library and a symbol of the cultural renewal of the megalopolis, harmoniously combining traditional values of reading with digital technologies, modern knowledge, and extensive information resources.
Residents of the city, representatives of the Almaty leadership, well-known writers, public figures, and members of the cultural community attended the opening ceremony.
A welcome address was delivered by Deputy Akim of Almaty, Abzal Nukenov. He emphasized that the development of a network of libraries and cultural centers in all districts of the city is one of the priority areas aimed at increasing the accessibility of social infrastructure for the population. According to him, such spaces contribute to the activation of public life and provide free access to modern educational and informational opportunities.
The library is equipped with an extensive book collection formed in accordance with modern requirements, as well as a modern material and technical base, which makes it possible to fully meet the interests of readers of all ages.
Visitors have access to a computer hall, comfortable quiet zones for individual reading, as well as spaces for meetings, communication, and the implementation of creative initiatives.
Special attention has been paid to creating an accessible environment. The library is equipped with special workstations for people with special needs, including Braille programs and audio interfaces for readers with visual impairments and blind visitors.
Speaking about the significance of the new facility, Chairman of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan, Mereke Kulkenov, noted:
“The opening of modern libraries is an important contribution to the development of the cultural space that unites knowledge and thought and elevates national spirituality to a new level. I am confident that this initiative will give new impetus to the development of reading culture.”
The opening of the library became an important step in the development of Almaty’s cultural infrastructure and is intended to become a new center of attraction for city residents. The library’s book collection includes up to 20,000 volumes and will be regularly updated.
The new branch is located at: 1/2 Kulboldy Street, Building 2. The library is open to residents and guests of the city daily from 08:30 to 20:00.
As of today, 31 city libraries are operating in Almaty, three of which function 24/7.
