Almaty Libraries have established an autonomous self-service library in the Almaly Community Center

An autonomous self-service library allows residents of the city to receive and return literature without visiting libraries.
Testing of this project was launched last year on Arbat Square. Also, during the visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to the Nauryz Fest International Festival, held on Abaya Square in Almaty, Almaty Libraries presented their autonomous self-service libraries to the Head of State.

Currently, such autonomous libraries are installed in the Dostyk Plaza shopping center and the Forum shopping center.

The machine registers the receipt of a book, which can be returned later both to the library and back to the machine. This initiative is aimed at increasing the accessibility of reading and stimulating interest in books.

By the end of this year, self-service libraries will be installed in shopping malls, metro stations, community service centers and other public places.
