The creative legacy of Mukhtar Auezov is a spiritual compass for the nation.

On February 11, 2026, a literary evening titled “Mūhtar Äuezov shyğarmaşylyğy jäne ruhani qundylyqtar” (“The Creative Legacy of Mukhtar Auezov and Spiritual Values”) was held at the library named after Mukhtar Auezov. The event was dedicated to promoting the rich heritage of the great classic of Kazakh literature — an outstanding writer, playwright, scholar, and public figure.
Among the distinguished participants were the Director of the M. O. Auezov Institute of Literature and Art, Academician Kenjekhan Matyzhanov; poet and Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper Qazaq adebieti, Bauyrzhan Zhakyp; Director of the M. O. Auezov House-Museum, Diar Kunaev; Chairman of the D. A. Kunaev International Public Foundation, Eldar Kunaev; as well as Nurdaulat Akysh, Gulziya Piraliyeva, Svetlana Ananyeva, and other prominent writers, scholars, educators, and young readers.
As part of the event, a book exhibition titled “Mūhtar Äuezov jäne ūlt ruhaniyaty” (“Mukhtar Auezov and the Spirituality of the Nation”) was organized, featuring rare editions, research works, and the invaluable literary legacy of the writer.
In his speech, poet and academic Bauyrzhan Zhakyp emphasized that the creative world of Mukhtar Auezov is an eternal treasure of Kazakh culture:
“Our common duty is to open the writer’s legacy to the modern generation. The great traditions established by Mukhtar Auezov have become the main guiding landmark that determined the path of development of Kazakh literature. Through Auezov’s world, we come to understand our national identity and discover new horizons in the art of the written word,” he noted.
In the main part of the evening, presentations were delivered by Diar Kunaev; Professor Gulziya Piraliyeva; science veteran Sanagul Mailybayeva; and Head of the Department of International Relations and World Literature, Svetlana Ananyeva. The speakers elaborated on the scholarly significance of the writer’s works and their role in the global context.
A special response from the audience was inspired by a literary performance prepared by students of School No. 128 in Almaty. The creativity of the younger generation became a symbolic “golden bridge” connecting generations through the world of the great writer.
The festive atmosphere of the evening was enriched by the song “Mūhtar ağa,” performed by Master of Arts Sagynysh Kenzhegalikyzy.
An international guest also joined the event online — Professor of Leiden University (the Netherlands), orientalist and Turkologist Zifa-Alua Auezova, who highlighted the global recognition of her grandfather’s works:
“The creative heritage of Mukhtar Auezov is a priceless treasure studied today at the global level. His works are not merely a history of the past; they will undoubtedly serve as a spiritual foundation for many future generations,” she emphasized.
During the meeting, scholarly works of the M. O. Auezov Institute of Literature and Art were donated to the libraries of Almaty.
At the conclusion of the evening, students and active participants were presented with letters of appreciation and commemorative gifts. The organizers especially noted that the sincere interest of young people in classical literature once again confirms the relevance of Mukhtar Auezov’s legacy and the enduring significance of his works.
The event became a vivid testament to the fact that the творчество of Mukhtar Auezov remains a key spiritual compass for the nation.
