The World of Heritage and Creativity: A National Round Table Dedicated to the 130th Anniversary of Sapargali Begalin Held in Almaty

On November 21, 2025, the Central City Children’s Library named after S. Begalin hosted a national round table dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of the classic of Kazakh children’s literature, Sapargali Begalin.
The event was attended by the writer’s granddaughter Gulnar Begalina, his great-grandson Ernar Begalin, Director of the Turkestan Regional Children’s Library named after Y. Altynsarin Rysbek Ermekuly, as well as schoolchildren, teachers, librarians, and members of the literary community. Laureate of the International “Alash” Award Sailaubai Toilybayev, along with researchers and lecturers of children’s literature, delivered reports on the development of Kazakhstani children’s literature and the importance of Begalin’s works in the educational process.
In her speech, Gulnar Begalina emphasized the importance of preserving the writer’s creative heritage, noting: “For our family, it is especially meaningful to see that the works of Sapargali Begalin continue to live on, inspire, and unite a new generation of readers.”
A special highlight of the event was the Sapargali Begalin Gallery, featuring rare photographs, archival materials, and documentary information about the writer’s life and creative journey.
Students of Batanov Secondary School presented creative performances dedicated to the writer’s legacy, while teachers held master classes and discussions aimed at fostering interest in classical children’s literature.
One of the most striking moments of the meeting was an arnau performed by teacher Aslan Isabayev. His heartfelt lines became an emotional centerpiece of the program, underscoring the spiritual significance of Sapargali Begalin’s heritage.
The round table became an important platform for promoting Kazakhstani children’s literature and introducing the new generation to the works of the great writer.
