Konayev Dinmukhamed. Aqiqattan attauga bolmaidy

The beloved son of our people and an outstanding statesman, Dinmukhamed Akhmetuly Kunayev, during his lifetime thoroughly revised his memoir-essay titled “Thus Passed the Era,” published in 1992. Taking into account the demands and expectations of readers, he expanded the work and renamed the book “One Must Not Step Over the Truth.”
In this book, he reveals not only little-known aspects of his own life but also discloses lesser-known and enigmatic details about prominent figures of his time, including Stalin, Malenkov, Bulganin, Khrushchev, Kosygin, Brezhnev, Andropov, and even Gorbachev. The author provides a comprehensive account of Kazakhstan’s economic, cultural, and social life over a fifty-year period.
He also pays tribute to the nation’s respected figures. Issues that were once deliberately silenced—such as the Temirtau events, the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site, the Aral Sea crisis, and the consequences of the December events—are addressed, along with pressing questions related to language, religion, and national identity. The author shares his reflections on national consciousness, customs, and traditions, analyzes the causes of the collapse of the Soviet system, and explores possible ways to overcome the current economic crisis.
