«Шабыт берген Алматы!»: Authors Who Celebrated the Beauty of Almaty Announced

Today, Almaty hosted the award ceremony for the winners of the republican poetry competition «Шабыт берген Алматы!», organized to mark City Day.

The event was attended by representatives of the Almaty city administration, specialists in culture and the arts, members of the creative community, poets, as well as residents and guests of the city.

The competition was held with the support of the Almaty City Department of Culture. Applications were accepted from July 15 to August 29, with a total of 457 works submitted from different regions of Kazakhstan. The total prize fund amounted to 7.5 million tenge.

During the ceremony, Deputy Mayor of Almaty Абзал Нүкенов highlighted the significance of the competition and noted that it was organized on the initiative of the Mayor of Almaty. He emphasized that Almaty has always been a center of culture and the arts. The works submitted by the poets reflect a special love for the beauty of the city, its life and unique atmosphere. He also expressed his gratitude to all the poets who took part in the competition and congratulated residents and guests of the city on City Day.

The jury evaluated the works based on their artistic quality, content, originality of the author’s idea, language skills and compositional features. Following the results of the competition, first place was awarded to Иранбек Оразбаев for his work «Алматы – бұ дүние жәннаты (шаһар-нама)».

Second place went to Елена Әбдіхалықова for her work «Жас едім көкірегімде тасыған ән…». Third place was awarded to Ғани Карлығаш for «Алматы: три поколения, одна любовь» and Ақсұңқар Ақынбабақызы for «Алматының рухы».

In addition, special prizes were awarded to: Алмас Ахметбекұлы «Төлеби 59»; Әділғазы Қайырбеков «Алматым – азаттықтың астанасы!»; Мұрат Шаймаран  «Алматы. Сұр ғимарат»; Ерғали Бақаш «Жас ақынның Алматыға келуі»; Олжас Отар  «Алматы монологы».

The works submitted for the competition reflected the historical, cultural and spiritual significance of Almaty, its natural beauty, rich cultural heritage and contemporary character through the individual poetic perspectives of the authors.

The works of the winner and prizewinners will be published in the collection «Шабыт берген Алматы!».
