Almaty Libraries and Regional Libraries Agree on Cooperation: Memorandum of Understanding Signed

A forum jointly organized by Almaty Libraries and libraries of the Almaty Region was held in Almaty. During the event, participants exchanged experiences on automation, digitization, the implementation of self-service autonomous libraries, and other modern solutions.
The highlight of the forum was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation. The document outlines joint efforts to preserve library collections, enhance staff qualifications, implement digital technologies, and develop a unified system that comprehensively serves readers.
Particular attention was given to the advanced practices of Almaty Libraries during the forum. Guests were introduced to the operation of an autonomous library based at the Youth Community Center and participated in practical sessions on digitization and book restoration.
“Today’s meeting is not just a formal event — it is an important step towards close collaboration and joint development in the library field. By combining our efforts, knowledge, and resources, we aim to introduce modern technologies, expand access to information, and strengthen cultural and educational ties between regions. May today mark the beginning of shared success and fruitful cooperation in the future!” emphasized Meiram Bektembayev, Director of Almaty Libraries.
The forum became a significant milestone in the modernization of the library sector and the development of interregional partnerships.
