Deputies of the Maslikhat of Almaty met with heads of cultural institutions

On July 27, 2023, the Central City Library named after A.P. Chekhov hosted a meeting of deputies of the Maslikhat of Almaty with the leadership of the Almaty Library. It was attended by Gani Mailibayev – Head of the Almaty Department of Culture, Meirzhan Otynshiev – Secretary of the Almaty Maslikhat, Serik Esmatov, Karashash Juzeeva, Yerkin Rakishev – deputies of the Almaty Maslikhat, Meiram Bektembayev – Director of the Almaty Library, as well as heads of other subordinate organizations of the Almaty Department of Culture.

During the discussion, it was emphasized that the development of culture is an important aspect for the development of society as a whole. The need was expressed to create conditions and opportunities for the development and support of cultural institutions at all levels, to provide all possible support with the participation of the public.

The need for broad participation of citizens in cultural events, especially young people, as well as people with disabilities, was also discussed. The idea of expanding the network of cultural institutions and holding free or preferential events was expressed.

Today, an important issue is also the improvement of working conditions, social protection and material well-being of cultural workers. The head of the Department of Culture of Almaty stressed that the solution of these issues will increase the attractiveness of this field of activity for professional personnel and stop the reason for the departure of young professionals to other industries.
The deputies expressed the opinion that a positive solution to these issues to improve working conditions and a fair assessment of the work of cultural workers will stimulate professional growth and attract experienced specialists.
