International seminar dedicated to National Book Day and Librarians’ Day held in Almaty

Today, an international seminar for librarians was held at the Alatau Creative Hub in Almaty, dedicated to National Book Day and Librarians’ Day. The event brought together library directors and specialists from various regions to discuss current issues in modern librarianship and exchange international experience.

During the seminar, participants were introduced to the modern capabilities of Almaty Libraries, including adaptation projects for people with special needs, the automation of library processes, access to electronic resources, and innovative developments in the field of digitalization.

A special feature of the seminar was a teleconference with Almaty Libraries’ international partners – leading library professionals from different countries. Representatives of the Selangor Public Library Corporation, the National Library of Sweden, Directorate General for Libraries and Publications of the Republic of Türkiye, the Central Scientific Library of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, and the National Library of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) joined the event online to share industry news, discuss recent achievements, and extend their congratulations to their colleagues.

In addition, the seminar featured discussions on the capabilities of the MegaPro automated library information system. Vladimir Gribov, General Director of the Russian company Data Express and Candidate of Economic Sciences, delivered a presentation on the effectiveness of software solutions for libraries.

The seminar served as an important platform for studying advanced international practices and enhancing the professional qualifications of participants.

Aliya Boranbai, an employee of the Almaty Regional Universal Library, highly praised the event:

“Today’s scientific seminar was extremely useful. International-level events like this are very important for us. We learned about the approaches of our foreign colleagues in digitalization and reader engagement.”

This event became not only a professional celebration but also a significant occasion aimed at strengthening national spirituality and elevating the status of books and libraries.
